Dashing Gifts for Dad

broken image

Whether it’s the third Sunday in June or a completely different day of the year, Dad sure deserves a day dedicated to him, doesn’t he? Maybe he already has everything he could want, or maybe his tastes are so specific that it’s notoriously tough to nail down what to give him to show your love and appreciation. Consider using the resources you already have at your fingertips — your dōTERRA® collection! — to create a homemade and heartfelt present for him.

Store-bought colognes typically contain both alcohol and synthetic fragrances. Why rely on a fragrance produced in a laboratory when you have access to aromatically rich, vibrant, and natural essential oils? After trying the following recipes, you’ll quickly get the hang of making your own combinations. You’ll simply need your trusty bottle of Fractionated Coconut Oil, a dropper, and a few 10 mL roller bottles. To see if you like the scent, make a small sample first, before making a larger batch. If you’re creating this blend for someone you know very well (like Dad), think about his unique personality and which aromas might characterize him best.

Pick one of these recipes for a starting point, then follow the easy instructions below! Note: by way of definition, musk is strong and sweet-smelling.

To create Earth Spice Cologne, you’ll use:

• 10 drops Clove

• 20 drops Siberian Fir

• 40 drops Bergamot

• 5 drops Lemon

To create Cinnamon Musk Cologne, you’ll use:

• 28 drops Cinnamon Bark

• 12 drops Rosemary

• 12 drops Wild Orange

To create Ground Strike Cologne, you’ll use:

• 25 drops Black Pepper

• 20 drops Patchouli

• 15 drops Lavender

Place all essential oils in empty 10 mL roller bottle. Add Fractionated Coconut Oil to fill remainder of bottle. Attach roll-on cap, shake until combined, and let mixture sit for 24 hours before use. Now it’s ready to be given as a gift! For best results, apply to wrists.

Wondering which other oils might work well in a personalized men’s cologne? Consider Cassia, Peppermint, Grapefruit, Basil, Cypress, Sandalwood, or Wintergreen for those striking fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and friends. Once these special guys discover the world of benefits hidden within the roller bottle, they may find themselves more reliant on their cologne than ever before, and suddenly more interested in those essential oils you’ve been telling them so much about.

Here are a couple more ideas for masculine, useful, and homemade dōTERRA gifts: depending on his preferred look, you can teach Dad an easy recipe for either aftershave or beard oil. Those items can get pricy on store shelves, so stick with what you’ve got on hand in your oil lineup. For aftershave serum, I recommend using the King of Oils, Frankincense, for the king of the family! Combine 1 ounce FCO with 5 drops Frankincense (or substitute Lavender, Tea Tree, or Helichrysum according to preference) in a small bottle and shake before use. For beard oil, combine 1 ounce FCO with 5-10 drops of Cedarwood (or another favorite essential oil for skin and hair) in a small bottle and shake. Tell him to put a few drops of the mixture into the palms each morning and massage into the beard. It’s that easy to apply dōTERRA!

Like the special men in our lives, certain oils stand out as particularly handsome, dashing, and impressive. They ground and balance those around them, and they also embody sharply protective qualities, like a good father does. Take time to tell the striking men in your life today what you admire most about them as you share these these useful and practical gifts with them.
